I am really happy to feature TemporalScanner by Exergen. Just recently my 2 year old was in the ER for a very high fever. And I was in a panic. She is very stubborn and taking her temperature was very difficult. When I came upon the TemporalScanner I knew this was something I had to try! So after reading over the directions I decided to put it to use. I scanned everyone in the family which only took 2 seconds each!
How does it work?
"With a gentle stroke of the forehead it captures the naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery, taking 1,000 readings per second, selecting the most accurate. With its patented Arterial Heat Balance system the TemporalScanner measures ambient temperatures, mathematically replaces the small temperature loss from cooling at the skin, and displays an accurate arterial temperature."
How to win : You need to click and visit the TemporalScanner by Exergen then come back and leave a comment and tell me something about the TemporalScanner! Want another entry? Blog about this giveaway and leave a post that you did and where. You can also subscribe to my blog or be a follower or grab my button for additional entries. Winner will be picked using random.org. Contest will end February 23, 2009 9:00 PM EST.

I subscribe-keep those giveaways coming!
I love that it is such an easy, efficient way of checking your kids temperature...I know that the "old way" just doesn't cut it sometimes :)...
Please oh please count me in, I'm tired of borrowing a neighbors temp thingy when I know my kids are getting a fever...
-barbarabaker :)
I'm a subscriber to your blog and love it!!!!
-barbarabaker :)
I'm also a follower of your blog (happily)!!!!
Thanks again, I hope I'm lucky enough to be chosen the winner for this gadget :)
-barbarabaker :)
TemporalScanner name relates to giving temp reading from heat emitted from Temporal Artery.

This takes the temperature accurately by sensing heat from the temporal artery. If you take multiple temperatures over the same area in rapid succession will ultimately cool the area causing differences. (If you are trying to "test" the accuracy).

It's more accurate than an ear temperature because of positioning. Sometimes there are missed fevers then.
I'm a subscriber too. TIA!
The TemporalScanner Thermometer has been clinically tested for accuracy compared to rectal thermometers.
My kids would probably REALLY appreciate this! :)

This is neat and works better than ear thermometers, should be used on the side of the head that is exposed

It measures temp with use of Arterial Heat Balance software. Amazing.
I learned that ear thermometers can be inaccurate because the positioning is inconsistent. Fevers can be missed with an ear thermometer. Also, that taking temperatures repeatedly with the temporal scanner can cool the skin and affect temp readings.

I like the idea that the TemporalScanner Thermometer has been clinically tested for accuracy. Some of those digital thermometers are wacky.
It takes the atrterial temperature, which is a temperature very close to rectal temperature.
It only requires a stroke of the forehead and it is extremely accurate.

The Temporal Scanner Temporal Artery Thermometer is based on infrared readings of the temporal artery blood flow. The temporal artery runs across the forehead. It's fast, accurate, non-invasive and easy to use. When a child's temperature is rapidly changing, the temporal artery temperature will identify the changes sooner than an ear or rectal thermometer, even in infants 0-12 months. There's no probing, disrobing or need to disturb a sleeping "patient" when using the Temporal Scanner Temporal Artery Thermometer, and I would LOVE to have one! My two little granddaughters seem to get sick so often and good luck getting them to sit still for an ear or armpit temperature reading! Great giveaway!

The temporal artery is connected to the heart via the carotid artery, directly leading from the aorta, the main trunk of the arterial system. It offers constant blood flow. It is the only such artery positioned close enough to the skin surface to provide access needed to take an accurate measurement.
Very cool!

It provides arterial heat balance.
I like the accuracy
This would be amazing to have! I have four boys and twins and taking their temp is such a pain! I learned this: The temporal artery is connected to the heart via the carotid artery, directly leading from the aorta, the main trunk of the arterial system. Why haven't we been taking their temp in that spot for longer? Something I didn't know!
