I am really happy to feature TemporalScanner by Exergen. Just recently my 2 year old was in the ER for a very high fever. And I was in a panic. She is very stubborn and taking her temperature was very difficult. When I came upon the TemporalScanner I knew this was something I had to try! So after reading over the directions I decided to put it to use. I scanned everyone in the family which only took 2 seconds each!
How does it work?
"With a gentle stroke of the forehead it captures the naturally emitted heat from the skin over the temporal artery, taking 1,000 readings per second, selecting the most accurate. With its patented Arterial Heat Balance system the TemporalScanner measures ambient temperatures, mathematically replaces the small temperature loss from cooling at the skin, and displays an accurate arterial temperature."
How to win : You need to click and visit the TemporalScanner by Exergen then come back and leave a comment and tell me something about the TemporalScanner! Want another entry? Blog about this giveaway and leave a post that you did and where. You can also subscribe to my blog or be a follower or grab my button for additional entries. Winner will be picked using random.org. Contest will end February 23, 2009 9:00 PM EST.

more accurate than ear temp
We have a few of these at my office and I have always thought they were so cool. They will always use them on sleeping babies and they never even know it. It's quick, easy, and effective. I so need one for my newborn!

whoa. it figures out the temperature in the room and takes that into consideration when taking the temperature of the forehead. that's pretty cool.
I learned that it is almost impossible to miss the artery during a scan!

This thing is awesome...some of the thermometers out there give you such varied results it is hard to know what is accurate and what isn't. This temporal thermometer is non-invasive yet provides results similar to the more accurate rectal readings.

It takes 1,000 readings per second which makes it the most accurate. ANYONE with kids NEEDS this! Thanks for the chance to win!

Advanced, patented technology measures temperatures with a gentle stroke across the forehead.
Thanks so much for this giveaway.
The TemporalScanner uses a 9volt battery which is very unusual.

It is very accurate because it takes 1,000 readings per second. THat is pretty impressive

I love the idea of this thermometer. It seems quick, easy, and most important painless. I also like the idea that it has been accepted for use in major hospitals, making it the ideal thermometer for use with newborns, infants, children or adults.

It takes 1,000 readings per second which makes it the most accurate. I love this, because when my kids have a fever knowing the accurate temperature is extremely important!
Slide the thermometer in a reasonably straight line across the forehead, midway between the eyebrows and the upper hairline, and not down the side of the face. Midway on the forehead area, the temporal artery is less than 2 millimeters below the skin surface, but down the side of the face, it is much deeper and less accurately measured.

It has the ability to determine temperature accurately by measuring the balance between the tissues warming from arterial blood and tissues cooling (warming) caused by heat loss (gain) to the environment.
These are the best we have them at the hospital that I work in

Basically, it does a better more accurate job that say an ear or mouth thermometer.
A major reason ear thermometers are considered inaccurate by medical professionals is because the positioning of the probe in the ear canal is inconsistent, thus creating inconsistent readings and frequently missing fevers. The temporal artery thermometer scans the forehead area for the temporal artery and it is almost impossible to miss the artery during a scan

The temporal artery is connected to the heart via the carotid artery, directly leading from the aorta, the main trunk of the arterial system. It offers constant blood flow. It is the only such artery positioned close enough to the skin surface to provide access needed to take an accurate measurement. Pretty cool. Thanks for the giveaway!

I am happy to learn that there is something more accurate but less annoying to a little one than an ear thermometer. Why aren't doctors offices using more of these?

Non-invasive, accurate and fast! No more messing around with a regular thermometer in the middle of the night, trying to get the temp of a squirming, crying baby.

The fact that it is an termporal artery thermometer is great because temporal artery temperature is not affected by the things that cause oral and underarm temperatures to be misleading (like drinking, mouth breathing, etc). My sister has this and LOVES it.

Since we cannot measure temperature from the center of the heart at home, this thermometer does the next best thing. It measures the temperature over the temporal artery, which is connected to the heart; therefore providing an accurate reading in just seconds.

The Temporal Scanner is more accurate than taking a rectal, under the tongue or under the arm reading. It also is incredibly not invasive and easy to use. It also factors in room temperature to give a more accurate reading. You cannot believe how often I am struggling with my kiddos to take temps. Sometimes I have just given up and guesstimated temps because my three little ones will not cooperate.
